Eat. Pray. Love – a movie directed by Ryan Murphy, starring Julia Roberts. Eat. Pray. Love – a book written by Elizabeth Gilbert. One woman’s search for Everything across Italy, India and Indonesia.
Why do I like it so much? Maybe because there is everything! Everything that reveals finding your balance, learning your lessons in life, starting to be happy, letting go of pain and fear, forgiving yourself. Showing how strong you are – when all you have accomplished is gone, there is a new start, you just have to be brave and go searching for it. Showing how best things that happen to you are unexpected, showing that the world is an amazing place and someone somewhere is waiting for you, but they don’t know it yet. Showing how you can overcome all bad things and be happy again, find your purpose…
I don’t know about you, but very often I wonder how wonderful it would be to leave everything behind, pack my bag and go. Go on a journey and fulfill dreams. I still haven’t done it – when there is always money involved, it is hard you know… I also have “a box” – it’s filled with things from the places I have visited (mostly postcards and travel guides). And I have a list – all the places I want to see before I die. It reminds me that I have a purpose, dreams to follow and someday I have to stop waiting for something to happen and just go.
What about the movie though? Here we go.
Four months in Rome, Italy. Eating delicious food and enjoying life. Learning what is “the sweetness of doing nothing” – dolce far niente. Italians are best at it. Learning how to appreciate life and everything that comes with it!
“Ruin is a gift. Ruin is the road to transformation.”
Four months in India. Finding spirituality and meditation. Learning that when your life is changing you have to clear all that space in your mind, because change is not a bad thing. Learning how to forgive yourself. Learning that meditation is within and you have to select your thoughts the same way you select your clothes every day. Working on your mind and mastering your thoughts is a power that you can cultivate. Still your mind and watch what happens – just let it be!
“Eventually everything goes away.”
Ending the year in Bali, Indonesia. Looking for balance and falling in love. Learning that to stay happy, you must always know where you are every moment. If you lose balance, you lose power.
“If you’re brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting which can be anything from your house to bitter, old resentments, and set out on a truth-seeking journey, either externally or internally, and if you’re truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher, and if you’re prepared, most of all, to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself, then the truth will not be withheld from you.”
Something from the movie we can try doing: sit in silence meditating and smile with your face, your mind, your liver.
Believe in love again. ♥
